2024 Scare-C.R.O.W. Haunted Maze - Actor & Volunteer Application

Carnival of Terror Large Logo.jpg

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS INFO VERY CAREFULLY!

  1. There are roles for ages 10+. Roles are very limited for younger actors.

  2. Most actors in our mazes are teens/adults.

  3. Some of the roles in this year's maze:  Evil Carnies, Scary Clowns, Giant Cockroach, Trash Heap Creature, Dead Ticket Seller, Bikers, Dead Rhody King/Queen, Stuffed Animal Mascot/Full Face Mask characters, Strobe Light Characters, Circus Acts, and more.

  4. Some roles are already cast.  If you wish to be considered for a specific role, please include it on your application form.  If you have a special scary skill...tell us!

  5. IMPORTANT: Some costume pieces may be provided by us, but in general, you will be responsible for obtaining your own costume and it must meet our specifications!  (No cheap or cheesy "Halloween store" type costumes are EVER permitted).  â€‹

  6. Some maze characters will be required to work in a strobe light, or will wear extensive make-up, face coverings, and/or a latex mask. If you have sensitivity to strobe lights, latex allergies, or other issues with wearing something that fully covers your head or face, you must tell us.  Strobe actors will be given multiple breaks.

  7. Actors are expected to be professional and remain in character at all times.  Anyone who breaks character or acts unprofessionally in any way will be asked to leave, and will not be allowed to return.  Our terrifying maze actors are what make this event exceptional.   There will be an optional "Scare-Actor Training Camp" provided.  Date TBA.

  8. Call time is half an hour prior to Maze start time with the exception of Oct. 25th (see below).

  9. We suggest you eat a healthy dinner before arriving.  There will be concessions on site, but actors may not go to public spaces in costume (once the maze opens).  Scaring people takes energy!

  10. Bring a water bottle with a tightly fitting lid, labeled with your name.  There is a water bottle filler in the lobby.  No spillable drinks are permitted in the maze.  Non-messy snacks are permitted but must be kept hidden from all maze patrons, and all trash must be thrown away!  We are not your mom.  â€‹

  11. There will be a mandatory ALL CAST meeting on Friday, October 25th at 3:30 pm.  This year, we will be doing a very fast, overnight load in due to FEC space limitations/booking conflicts.  This means we cannot do a normal dress rehearsal the night before the maze.  During this mandatory meeting on the 25th, you will be assigned your spot and you will be allowed to walk around to familiarize yourself with the maze.  Friday the 25th is also a show night, so the maze will be open to the public at 6 pm.  If you are performing on the 25th, it's a good idea to arrive already in costume/make-up for the meeting, or be able to change quickly.  If you are not performing, you can learn your location/role and then you will be excused.  The meeting generally takes about an hour.

  12. Actors will receive ONE FREE TICKET VOUCHER for the maze.  You may use it yourself (on a night you are not working) or give it to a friend.  Please note that lines are often very long.

  13. If there is a line at 9 pm, all patrons who have purchased tickets will be allowed to walk through.  Actors (including kids) may not leave until they are released.  Parents of minors, please be aware that your child may not be done until after 9:30 pm or later if the line is really long.  â€‹

  14. Please review and read our Policies and Waivers.  All participants must check a box on your application that you have read, understand, and agree to all policies and waivers.  Failure to comply with CROW rules/policies is grounds for immediate removal from the premises.

  15. Participation as an actor in the maze is completely AT YOUR OWN RISK.

  16. Patrons are asked not to touch actors and actors may not touch patrons.  Nevertheless, accidentally touching someone or having them touch you when scared is sometimes unavoidable.  We do everything in our power to keep our performers safe.

  17. Parents of minors, please consider signing up as an Adult Volunteer to help supervise your child and others.

  18. One actor/volunteer application form must be submitted per person.

  19. Submitting this form does NOT guarantee you a spot in the maze.  We cannot cast everyone who wishes to participate.

  20. You will be notified by email when casting is complete.

  21. Make sure to FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK for updates.  Here is a link to "Scare-C.R.O.W. Haunted Maze , which is a separate FB page.  Adults may ask to join "C.R.O.W. Parents and Volunteers" private group page, HERE.  Be sure to answer the new member questions, or you will be rejected.
