The Flight Dance Team will perform in the 2023 Holly Jolly Follies- To be held at the Florence Events Center, the C.R.O.W. Spring Youth Musical, and the 2024 Spring Dance Showcase (late May). Other events may be required at Director's discretion.
Participating in Flight is a big commitment. It is important that you are aware of our expectations PRIOR to auditioning:
-
Dancers must be 11 years old by the first day of practice, and must have some previous dance experience or training (or equivalent).
-
Flight is an annual program, and the team is required to re-audition each year. Any dancer who was on the previous year's team is expected to re-audition in order to continue the next year. Dancers must commit to being on the team for the entire year.
-
Annual Cost to participate in Flight is $425. Tuition may be paid in 2 installments over 2 months. First payment is due on first day of practice. Jacket is required for all dance team members at an additional cost. Those who already have a jacket do not need to purchase a new one (unless they want to).
-
Some half and some full scholarships are available for those with financial need (application required).
-
Flight families are responsible for purchasing costumes for annual performances. Costume costs will be kept as low as possible.
-
Flight dancers must provide 3-4 pairs of their own dance shoes. Dance shoes must be kept in "performance shape" (i.e.-No holes). Dancers will receive a list of styles/colors needed once they are accepted onto the team.
-
Dancers must wear all black (or Flight Team logo) dancewear to all practices. Rehearsal attire must be meant for dancing. (No jeans, etc.)
-
Dancers must provide "performance shape" tights and leotards as needed to complete costumes. Undergarments are also required, as needed. Dancers who require a dance bra, must purchase and wear one.
-
Dancers with long hair must pull hair back for all practices. No Exceptions!
-
Flight Dancers who are unprepared for practices (i.e.- Don't bring their proper shoes, don't pull hair back, or don't wear all black dance clothing) may be removed from the team with no refund.
-
Dancers must demonstrate good teamwork, respect for authority, and professionalism at all times.
-
Dancers may not miss more than 6 practices in a year. If a dancer is tardy (more than 15 minutes) or leaves more than 15 minutes early without special permission, it will count as 1/2 absence.
-
Practices will be Thursday afternoons, from 4:15-6:15. There will be no practices during Tech Week for C.R.O.W.'s Spring Musical, nor during the month of December (following the Holly Jolly Follies). Director may cancel an occasional additional practice as needed.
-
Flight dancers are required to enroll and participate in at least one other dance class (and maintain participation throughout the year – Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring sessions – whenever classes are available). Dancers may not be frequently absent from this additional class.
-
Flight dancers will be provided with various performance opportunities throughout the year, including The Holly Jolly Follies, C.R.O.W.'s 2024 Spring Dance Showcase (May, 2023), C.R.O.W.’s mainstage Musical in April, Elks Christmas Party, Rhody Pageant, and misc. community events. Performances are mandatory, and cannot be missed or you will be dismissed from the team.
-
Flight Dancers are expected to follow all C.R.O.W. rules (as applicable) found on C.R.O.W.'s Code of Conduct. You can locate this document on the C.R.O.W. Website under “Forms and Guidelines.”
-
Dancers who cause any problems with other dancers may be removed from the team at any time, at the discretion of the Director. Flight Dancers are role models for younger dancers and must maintain good behavior standards both in and outside of the studio. The “littles” are watching you!
-
IMPORTANT! By committing to the team, Flight Dancers are agreeing to put the team first, above all other commitments. Participation in sports, extra-curricular activities, auditions, or other classes at other locations can never be prioritized over Flight practices/ performances/ etc. Flight must always be your first priority. By auditioning, you are stating that you have read, understand, and agree to all of the rules of participation.
